Stress Reduces Chances of Getting Pregnant

In a study for evidence that stress reduces the likelihood of a woman getting pregnant, researchers found that women with the highest levels of adrenalin were 12% less likely to conceive in the first month.

Participants in the study were 274 women aged 18-40.

Adrenalin and cortisol levels were measured by the presence of biological markers in their saliva.

The women were asked to keep a diary of menstruation and lifestyle habits.

Adrenalin levels were the only links to reduced conception.

Breast Cancer Linked To Cleaning Products

Researchers found a link between breast cancer and cleaning products, according to the study in Massachusetts.
The study involved 787 women with breast cancer and 721 healthy ones.
The questionaire was about their use of cleaning products and pesticides.

They were placed in groups ranging from high users to low.

They found that the use of air fresheners and cleaners was associated with increased risk of breast cancer; those who used the combination were twice as likely to develop the disease.

WatchingTV Could Be Unhealthy For Toddlers

Toddlers who watch TV are unhealthier than those who do not, according to a recent study. Researchers followed 1,314 children born in Quebec, Canada in 1997 and 1998.

Parents reported on how much television the kids watched at 29 months and 53 months.

Teachers evaluated them at age 10 for:
  • Their academic ability

  • Pyschosocial function

  • Health habits


Result-For every extra hour TV watched there was:
  1. A corresponding 9% less exercise

  2. 5% rise in body mass index (BMI).

  3. Decreased in academic achievement

Another Law against The use Of Solariums

Austria is set to ban the use of solariums for teenagers under 18.
The law comes into effect on September 01.

According to research studies, the risk of developing skin cancer from solariums is 75 % for people under 35 who use them regularly.
Solariums breaking the law can be fined up to 2,180 Euros.

A final rule has been issued by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on the marketing and use of tobacco.

Tobacco smoke is the number 1 cause of many fatal diseases and unhealthy lifestyles.

According to experts at the National Institutes of Health, eliminating dairy products could impact on diet and health and it may not be necessary at all.

Researchers examined findings on lactose intolerance and strategies to manage the condition. They found no reason for persons with lactose intolerance to avoid dairy products. The findings suggest that they can tolerate about 12 grams of lactose daily, about 1 cup of milk.
