Doctors have managed to help some kids overcome their allergy to eggs by giving them daily amounts of eggs.
The study involved 55 children age 5-18 years.
Forty were given powdered egg white daily,while the other 15 were given corn starch.

Fancy Cookies And Fresh Fruits
Fruits are very important to a healthy diet, they are part of the 'vegetables and fruit' food group.
Whether to prevent diseases, for better recovery from illness, to lose weight, for health and vitality or for general good health, they are a must in any diet.
What about cookies? Too much sugar and calories, not kind to healthy teeth and bad for weight management.
This article shows you how to combine the taste for cookies with fresh fruit.
Here are two recipes , one Almond macaroons and the other snickerdoodles.
SnickerdoodlesMakes 4 dozen cookies
To make cinnamon sugar, mix 1 tbsp (15 mL) ground cinnamon (or to taste) with a ¼ cup (60 mL) of granulated sugar.
1 cup (250 mL) shortening
1 ½ cups (375 mL) sugar
2 eggs
2 ¾ cups (680 mL) flour
2 tsp (10 mL) cream of tartar
1 tsp (5 mL) baking soda
½ tsp (2 mL) salt
Cinnamon sugar
Almond Macaroons
Makes 3 dozen cookies
1 lb (450 g) blanched almonds, either whole or slivered
2 cups (500 mL) sugar
¼ tsp (1 mL) salt
½ tsp (2 mL) vanilla extract
3 egg whites

Orthorexia: An Unhealthy Obsession With Healthy Eating - US News and World Report
This is an article on 'Orthorexia'; although not formerly recognized as a psychiatric diagnosis, it is an eating disorder. Orthorexic individuals are obsessed with healthy eating alienating anything but their perfect diet. Healthy eating is important for health and longevity, but persons with orthorexia, according to experts, take it to the extreme and would eliminate certain classes of food altogether. How To Determine Your Risk For A Heart Attack
Do you know whether your blood is flowing freely or becoming blocked?
You probably don't if you didn't have them checked out.
According to a recent study we can determine if we are at risk for a heart attack because we all fall into one of three categories:
1- High risk-You have existing diseases such as diabetes, heart and kidney disease.
2-At risk- You have more than one of the following:
-The risk factors mentioned in our program,
-A family history of early heart disease
-High blood pressure
-High cholesterol
-Metabolic syndrome
3-Optimal Risk-No risk factors.
The study involving women showed that only 4 percent were in the 'optimal risk' category. Almost 75 % fell in the 'at risk' category, many with the risk factors mentioned in our program. Fortunately most of those in this category can reverse their risk by making lifestyle changes.

Can Diet Soda Boost Your Stroke Risk? - US News and World Report
According to recent research, people who drink diet soda are more liklely to develop strokes than those who don't.
The study involved 2, 564 participants age 69 on average, they were asked about the type of soda they drink and how often.
Researchers found those who drank the diet soda were 61% more likely to have a vascular event.

Avoiding Dairy Products For Lactose Intolerance Can Be A Health Risk
People who believe that they have an intolerance to lactose are warned about going overboard by avoiding dairy products altogether.
According to experts at the National Institutes of Health, eliminating dairy products could impact on diet and health and it may not be necessary at all.
Researchers examined findings on lactose intolerance and strategies to manage the condition. They found no reason for persons with lactose intolerance to avoid dairy products. The findings suggest that they can tolerate about 12 grams of lactose daily, about 1 cup of milk.

Text Messaging Good For Mothers-Be
Text messaging has again been identified as effective in delivering wellness tips, this time to pregnant women.
A free health education program in the USA is making it possible to deliver health teaching through text messaging. Topics will include nutrition, immunization, prevention of birth defects and more.
Mothers will receive weekly messages by texting "BABY" to 511411. Until the end of the first year of life.
The program organizers are expecting to reduce risk factors such as poor nutrition, excessive stress, smoking and alcohol use from their lifestyles.
